‘Twas the night before conference

‘Twas the night before conference when all you could hear
Was the sound of hearts pounding with nerves and great fear.
The deadline was looming, the paper not writ,
Nor even the hint of a relevant script.
The content a muddle was oh so confusing
The structure, unordered, was simply bemusing.
The message uncertain and very unclear
Oh please, inspiration, why won’t you appear?
Then all of a sudden, the ‘phone gave a ping
A message had come in from Now You’re Talking.
This coach for your speech had solutions aplenty
To write something great for the glam cognoscenti.
Together they grafted and crafted the content,
That was right for the audience at this event.
They practised delivery in its entirety:
With strong body language and vocal variety.
Some wonderful phrases enriched the confection,
While powerful stories wove a connection.
Devices rhetorical helped get it right,
A sprinkling of humour made the audience unite.
The speaker stood tall and gave satisfaction:
With clear, concise message and a strong call to action.
The audience arose for a standing ovation,
With thunderous applause for the speaker’s oration.
Season’s greetings, Presenter, and be of good cheer,
Now You’re Talking will guide your performance next year.
